Apple has unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, powered by its next-generation M5 processor. The update focuses heavily on boosting on-device artificial intelligence capabilities, with the M5 chip delivering up to 3.5 times the AI performance of the previous M4 chip.
Beyond the significant AI enhancements, the M5 processor also provides up to 1.6x faster graphics and a 20% improvement in multi-core CPU performance. Apple is also touting up to 24 hours of battery life and faster SSD speeds for quicker file access and loading of large models.
While the external design remains the same, Apple is positioning the new model as a major leap for users upgrading from older Intel-based or M1 Macs, promising massive gains in speed and efficiency.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is available for pre-order today, starting at the same price of $1,599.
